I always want to leave somewhere wishing to go back. There are places in Brazil that I don't want to go back to, not because they were horrible, but because that experience was then and this is now.

When I've been on holiday with my parents to the same place twice, the second time is (usually) never as good. You've done the journey before and you spend most of the time either thinking about the places you went to last time, or actually going there and saying "it hasn't changed much, as it?"

Some people might disagree with that, but I can guarantee you, Pompeii hasn't changed for over 2000 years, so it isn't likely to have changed much over the course of 2 years.

I will defiantly go back to Brazil, but not to the parts I've already seen. I'd love to see more of South America. The place gives an indescribable feeling. Everywhere in Brazil the people where happy and always did everything they could to help us and each other. All the way from commuters helping to stop traffic in the busy city of Belo Horizonte, down to a man with a scythe offering to chop Andy's walking stick down a bit, while we where waiting outside a bus station in a small village. Everybody smiles; if they're not, smile at them and they'll smile right back.

I love to hear stories of travelling and I enjoy books about the subject. One of my favourites is by Paul Theroux, called The Old Patagonian Express (Amazon USA/UK). He leaves his home in Boston, in northern USA and by train makes his way to the most southern tip of South America.

As for now, this is the story of my adventures Half-way around the World and back again. Compared to other stories about spending years around the world, or travelling without using air from the UK to Australia, this one is quite small at only four months long and only half-way round the world. To me though, this is the most amazing, adventurous and exciting thing I've ever started.
