Long live your dreams

14th January 2006 - the final post, from London

When I left I couldn't believe I was going. I had a small book of tickets and some money. I had no idea what to expect or what to think, other than to go with the flow and see where I end up.

I can't believe I'm home now. Everything is as it was when I left, little has changed. I don't really know why I'm surprised by that. Driving along the M25 today with one of my friends, I found the hills and farms all so novel. There's nowhere else in the world like Britain; it's glorious.

I've been home for a few days now, caught up with most of my friends and started to make plans for the coming days, weeks and months. People ask me what was my favourite place was and what the most amazing experience was. Hundreds of things flood through my head for the answers; to be honest, I haven't got a clue. The whole thing was like a dream.

Of course, I didn't do this all by myself so I've got some people to thank.

Naturally, thanks to Andy, Lewis and Matt who are still somewhere in Australia, probably tucking into a kangaroo dinner, sitting around their new car, Bruce.

Thank you to my parents for encouraging me to go and helping to sort myself out.

Thank you to everybody who let me do work for them and helped me fund the trip, I literarily wouldn't be able to go without you.

Thank you to all my family for the photos and emails you've been sending me, it was such a pleasure to read and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Also thank you for my birthday/Christmas present which kept me going for the first few weeks of my trip. I'll be in Swansea soon!

Thank you to the trio of my dearest girl friends who have kept me sane these past few years and filled my inbox with photos and stories of the goings on in their lives. Between them, they managed to send a little over 200 emails in the four months I was away. They made me laugh so much I spilt my drink over my lap and they lifted me up when I was down. As much as the guys I was with are lovely, there's nothing like a gal (or three) to talk to. Thank you for my birthday presents!

Thank you to all my friends (and their parents!) spread around the country for the emails and chatting to me when I made an appearance online. I'll come and see you all soon for a drink or two (or a nice meal)!

Thank you to all the new people we met for making the trip all the more interesting, I wish you all the best.

Thank you to all the people of the wonderful counties we visited for being so welcoming (apart from Los Angeles, I hope never to go there again).

Thank you to you, everybody who read this and flicked around my photos.

Probably forgotten somebody, so you get a whole paragraph devoted to you.

So there we go, all over now, life goes back to normal, or as normal as normal can be.
